Description
This spell wreathes you in flame and causes damage to each creature that attacks you in melee. The flames also protect you from fire-based attacks.
Any creature striking you with its body or a hand-held weapon deals normal damage, but at the same time the attacker takes 1d8 points fire of damage + 1 point per caster level (maximum 15d8 + 15). If the attacker has spell resistance, it applies to this effect. Creatures wielding melee weapons with reach are not subject to this damage if they attack you. Any weapon take damage from the spell prior to rolling damage. If the weapon/ammo is destroyed by the spell, the damage is prevents (this affects melee weapons with reach and ranged attacks. Natural weapons do not take the damage. Instead the attacker does and if they are reduced to 0 or less Wounds the damage is prevented).
In addition, the flames protect you from hostile fire attacks. You receive resist fire equal to twice your caster level for the duration of this spell. If you are subject to a fire attack which allows a Reflex save for half damage, you receive the benefits of the Improved Evasion Talent for such an attack (taking half damage even on a failed saving throw).
When casting this spell, you appear to immolate yourself, but the flames are thin and wispy, increasing the light level within 10 feet by one step, up to normal light.
