Description
Schedule Task allows you to manifest magic in the future, even when you're not there. Upon casting this spell, select a single Cantrip you know, and provide a simple prerequisite for it to be cast. Your instruction must remain concise; the fewer words the better, typically five or less. Examples may include “at 5PM,” or “if someone enters this room,” “if the door opens,” or “when the sun sets.”
You must designate the intended target and effect of the Cantrip when you determine the casting prerequisite. The chosen target may be someone or something which is not present at the time of casting, as long as it is clearly defined - for example, saying “create a Ghost Sound of banging pots when the Blue Goblin enters the room” is perfectly acceptable, but if a Red Goblin enters, nothing will happen - being vague with instructions may produce undesired effects.
After 24 hours, if the Cantrip was not activated, the Schedule Task effect ends and nothing happens. The Scheduled Task can only “read” information which is in its immediate vicinity, as if a person were sitting in the room waiting to cast the Cantrip for you. Thus, it cannot activate based upon parameters outside of its immediate area (typically within a 30 ft. radius of where you cast this spell).
