Gorgonite

This stone-grey metal is known for its hefty weight, resistance to magic, and effectiveness in subduing foes. The methods for creating Gorgonite have been long-lost, but it is said that Giants and Planekin of the Earth collaborated long ago during the early Second Age to create this metal through alchemical means. Its durability ensured that it survived the tribulations of the ages.

  • Any Gorgonite gear is incredibly heavy, weighing 3 times the standard amount. However, it is as hard as Mithril (Hardness of 15), and substantially harder to break than Adamantium (70 HP per inch of thickness).
  • MW 3+ Gorgonite confers magical protection to those wearing it, and magical offense to those using it as a weapon. Gorgonite armor provides its wearer with Spell Resistance equal to its Masterwork Tier x2, plus 10. Gorgonite weapons sunder Mana from those it attacks, removing Mana from the target equal to damage dealt. The weapon repairs an equivalent amount of its Hitpoints during this process, if it lacks any.
  • MW 5+ Gorgonite can impair enemies and protect its wearer. Using a Gorgonite weapon of this quality causes a Petrification effect - every time a creature is hit by a Gorgonite weapon, it must make a Fortitude save or turn to stone (DC equal to damage dealt). This effect may be suppressed at will of the weapon's wielder. Gorgonite armor likewise protects its wearer from any form of Petrification, and any other impairment to their movement - the wearer of Gorgonite armor possesses a constant Freedom of Movement effect.
