Movement and Exploration
Movement
Character's may move there base speed as a Half Action, or twice their base speed as a Full Action.
A character may Charge as a Full Action, allowing them to move twice their base speed in a straight line and make a single attack on the first target they reach. You may charge through rough terrain or if hindered, as long as its a straight line and there are not enemies in the way (see Overrun combat Maneuver).
A character may make a Run action as a Full Action in which they move x4 their base speed in a straight line. After each minute of running a Character must roll a Fort Save of 10 + 1 for each minute ran or become Fatigued. Characters may make a Run action when Hindered or through rough terrain, however this often requires an Athletics or Acrobatics check.
Base Movement vs Enhanced Movement
Move Speed to Miles per Hour
| Character Speed | MPH |
|---|---|
| 20 ft | 2.27 |
| 30 ft | 3.41 |
| 40 ft | 4.55 |
| 50 ft | 5.68 |
| 60 ft | 6.82 |
| 70 ft | 7.95 |
| 80 ft | 9.09 |
| 90 ft | 10.23 |
| 100 ft | 11.36 |
| 110 ft | 12.5 |
| 120 ft | 13.64 |
When traveling over long distances it can be easier to use a characters movement in MPH. This assumes the character is moving at a steady pace on level, unobstructed ground
Terrain
Terrain has a massive impact on travel times. When determining movement over terrain first determine the terrains Type and then determine Paths. There can be more than one type of terrain in any one area, if so ad the modifiers together. An Uncharted Forested Hills would have a travel modifier of 120%
Type
| Terrain Type | Modifier |
|---|---|
| Plains/Tundra | 0% |
| Desert | 10% |
| Badlands | 20% |
| Wasteland | 30% |
| Hills | 50% |
| Mountains | 100% |
| Forests | 20% |
| Marshes | 100% |
Paths
| Path Type | Modifier |
|---|---|
| Uncharted | 50% |
| Game Trails | 30% |
| Basic Roads | 10% |
| Maintained Roads | 0% |
| Paved Roads | -10% |
Trailblazing
At the start of each day a character may a roll a Knowledge (Geography) DC-20/30 in order to reduce terrain type modifier by 10%/20%. This involves using a characters knowledge of the area to avoid delays.
During a travel, a character can also roll a Survival DC-15 to reduce the Path Type modifier down by 10% and then for each 5 over an additional 10%, to a minimum of zero.
