| Within PathRunner, all Spells are sorted into **Spell Tiers**, which dictate the power of the spell, and in turn the minimum amount of Mana required to cast it. To cast a spell, you must expend Mana equal to the Tier of the spell. For example, casting a Tier 4 spell costs 4 MP. When casting a spell, a character typically expends the Mana required as a Standard Action which provokes Attacks of Opportunity. Unless otherwise stated, the saving throw DC against a Spell is equal to (10 + Spell Tier + the caster's Primary Casting Attribute modifier). | Within PathRunner, all Spells are sorted into **Spell Tiers**, which dictate the power of the spell, and in turn the minimum amount of Mana required to cast it. | Cantrips do not cost any Experience to learn. Instead, any character who possesses a Caster Level of 1 or more may study magic for a period of four hours to learn any Cantrip. Succeeding at a Spellcraft check (DC 10) progressively lowers this time requirement, at GM discretion. | Cantrips do not cost any Experience to learn.
