Description

Heat Metal makes metal extremely hot. You may affect the metal objects wielded by one creature for every 2 Caster Levels you possess, though none of the affected creatures may be more than 30 ft. apart from one another. If you affect standalone objects, you may heat up to 25 lbs. of objects per CL. It has the following effects:

A creature takes fire damage if its equipment is heated. It takes full damage if its armor, shield, or weapon is affected. The creature takes minimum damage (as if the dice rolled only 1s) if it’s not wearing or wielding such an item, but the item is on their person.

On the first round of the spell, the metal becomes warm and uncomfortable to touch, but deals no damage. The damage increases every round as the metal becomes hotter. The creature may only avoid this damage by completely removing the metal object(s) from their person.

Any cold intense enough to damage the creature negates fire damage from the spell (and vice versa) on a point-for-point basis. Underwater, the surrounding water will boil and steam, and the creature takes half damage.

Table: Heat Metal Damage

Round Metal Temperature Damage per Round, per object
1 Warm None
2 Hot 1d6
3-5 Searing 2d6
6+ Infernal 4d6

Heat Metal counters and dispels Chill Metal.
