There are moments in any struggle that influence the outcome. Does the brave warrior bring down the villain before he can finish casting a devastating spell? Does the sly rogue avoid detection as she sneaks into the giant chieftain’s lair? Does the pious cleric finish casting her healing spell before the rain of arrows ends the life of her companions? Just a few die rolls decide each of these critical moments, and while failure is always a possibility, true heroes find a way to succeed, despite the odds. Hero Points represent this potential for greatness. They give heroes the chance to succeed even when the dice turn against them.
All characters begin with one Hero Point, which may be spent or burned to receive various benefits. Hero Points refresh every session, unless they are burned - burning a Hero Point permanently reduces the character’s available Hero Points by 1.
In order to increase the number of available Hero Points, a character must spend Experience on Paths, or begin with a large selection of Paths from having a high Potential on the Priority Chart. For every Path you unlock, you gain an additional Hero Point.
Hero Points may be spent for various effects. Each of the below effects will list “Spend” or “Burn,” denoting whether the action in question temporarily or permanently removes the Hero Point from the character.
