Dwarven Racial Talents

Kingdoms rich in ancient grandeur, halls carved into the roots of mountains, the echoing of picks and hammers in deep mines and blazing forges, a commitment to clan and tradition, and a burning hatred of most non-Dwarves – these common threads unite all Dwarvenkind.

Hands of the Forgemaster

You may always start a fire with normally flammable material, even if the material is fireproofed, soaking wet, or magically protected, just by touching it with your hands as a Full Round Action. Doing this provokes an Attack of Opportunity.

Hands of Iron

  • Requirements: Hands of the Forgemaster, 30 Experience

Your time in the forge and amongst the heat of metal provides you with incredible resistance to heat. Your hands become completely immune to Fire damage, meaning that as long as you can carry an item, you are unaffected by its heat (however, your hands provide you no protection from fire damage in of themselves). Additionally, your entire person gains Fire resistance equal to your total Hit Die.

Foehammer

When you select this Talent, choose one of the following races:

When attacking the chosen race with a weapon with the Dwarven trait, you may double your Constitution modifier to damage rolls. You may buy this Talent multiple times, applying to a new race from the list each time.

Natural Sprinters

You, like many Dwarves, are very dangerous over short distances. You may triple your base speed when making the Charge action.

Rock and Stone

Dwarves are commonly skilled miners, some more than most. Dwarves with this Talent may “burrow” through the ground at a speed of 5 ft. per turn by mining through it at great speed. You must possess a pickaxe or other appropriate mining tool to make use of this racial trait, and your tool may not be sufficient to burrow through certain material, at GM discretion.

Sense Treasure

Some Dwarves have learned to sense the presence of material wealth with dragon-like precision. This ability functions as Scent, except it can detect only precious metals (copper, silver, and gold) and creatures primarily made of such materials, within a range of 30 feet.

Iron Sharpens Iron

The craftsmanship of the Dwarves is unmatched. Certain religions hold that your people were carved from the mountains themselves. It is little wonder that Dwarves would surpass the other races of the world in this effort. Dwarves with this Talent gain their total Hit Dice as an untyped bonus to all Craft, Profession, and Harvest skill checks involving any metal or stone.

Grudgebearer

To forgive is to forget, forget nothing. Upon taking this talent a character may select any creature, npc or similar entity that has wronged the dwarven character or his clan. This entity now has a Grudge on it. Any dwarf with this talent that is aware of this grudge may add their secondary ability to both attacks and damage against the entity. If the Grudge is settled (either through death or amends), the character may immediately select another target of their Grudge. The new Grudge does not take effect until 24 hours have passed.
