Advanced Kobolds
Most Kobolds are weak, craven, and resentful of the world at large, particularly against creatures stronger, smarter, and otherwise superior to them. However, despite these odds, occasionally a more potent member of the race will come to be - one that truly manifests the draconic heritage that some many Kobolds are eager to profess. Such denizens share the normal values, goals, and lifestyle of normal Kobolds, but very often are inclined to take over their settlement as leader, causing significant trouble to locals and adventurers in the process.
Physical Description
Like their kin, Advanced Kobolds are small, bipedal reptilian humanoids. They stand slightly taller than a normal Kobold, and they have powerful jaws for creatures of their size and noticeable claws on their hands and feet. Often kobolds’ faces are curiously devoid of expression, as they favor showing their emotions by simply swishing their tails. Kobolds’ thick hides vary in color, and most have scales that match the hue of one of the varieties of chromatic dragons, with red scales being predominant. A few kobolds, however, have more exotic colors such as orange or yellow, which in some tribes raises or lowers an individual’s status in the eyes of his fellows.
Society
Advanced Kobolds tend to have a natural desire to prove other races wrong about their kin, leading to them taking advantage of their tribe’s willingness to follow a powerful leader of their own kind. It is normal for Advanced Kobolds to take over as the tribe elder, or to lead the pursuit in seeking a truly draconic lord to rule them.
Relations
Unlike most Kobolds, Advanced Kobolds are not inclined to be inherently envious of all races. They are a cut above the rest of their kin, and are well aware of it - they tend to retain an inherent hatred towards dwarves and elves, and thoroughly enjoy taking advantage of gnomes and halflings like their kin. Like their relatives, they will practically worship DragonBorn, hailing them as the ideal race.

Standard Racial Traits
- Ability Score Modifiers: Advanced Kobolds are fast, and know how to take advantage of other races’ tendencies to underestimate them. They gain a Racial Bonus to Dexterity and Charisma, and a penalty to Strength.
- Size: Advanced Kobolds are Small creatures, and thus gain a +1 size bonus to their AC, a –1 penalty on their CMB and CMD, and a +4 size bonus on Stealth checks.
- Type: Advanced Kobolds are humanoids with the reptilian subtype. Advanced Kobolds are treated as standard Kobolds for the purpose of satisfying the racial requirements for feats, such as Draconic Aspect.
- Base Speed: Advanced Kobolds have a base speed of 30 feet.
- Languages: Advanced Kobolds begin play speaking Common and Draconic. Advanced Kobolds with a high Intelligence score may choose from the following: Dwarven, Gnomish, Undercommon, Elvish, and Goblin.
- Scaly Hide: Advanced Kobolds have naturally scaly skin, which grants them a +1 natural armor bonus.
- Crafty: Advanced Kobolds share their lesser kin’s craftiness. They gain a +2 racial bonus on Craft (trapmaking), Perception, and Profession (miner) checks. Craft (trapmaking) and Stealth are always Key Skills for an Advanced Kobold.
- Lizard Eyes: Advanced Kobolds can see perfectly in the dark, up to 60 feet.
- Draconic Maw: Advanced Kobolds have a stronger jaw than their lesser brethren. They gain a bite attack that deals 1d4 points of damage. Additionally, Once per day they may also deal 1d6 points of additional energy damage with the bite attack. The damage type depends on Advanced Kobold’s scale color: acid for black or green; electricity for blue; fire for red; cold for white.
