====== Chim ====== Chim is an ancient draconic word for "part," referring to the way in which Chims are a part of the world, more or less. Chims are a "creation" of Meracydians during the First Age, used to create impossible and harmonious combinations of technology and magic. The energy contained with a Chim is an incomprehensibly tiny fraction of the universe's energy - they are pure creation and potential energy, in a word. The depiction of Chims which a Meracydian would find familiar are in fact just the "storage container" - a highly advanced bit of technology, infused through magical means. These containers typically look like microscopic gears or cogs, and they are so small that seeing them without equipment or particularly powerful vision is effectively impossible - they seem to float in empty space due to their minuscule size, though Chims are typically one of millions or billions in a greater Chim Cloud. {{:game_systems:settings:alvion:the_world:pasted:20250314-204252.jpeg}} Chims were made through a delicate process - they resonate with the "background music" of reality, and thus in order to draw them out and contain Chim within a physical form, a magical ritual was performed. The ritual typically involved music, runic circles to contain the affected area, and the divine presence of a solar or lunar eclipse. Once this ritual took place, the Chim was drawn out in force into an area, which often resulted in highly dangerous Wild Magic, though also allowed for the capture of them. Chims in their contained form are mostly benign - they seek to create, as this what they were prompted to do by Meracydians, and thus a cloud of Chims might be tasked with repairing a facility or automaton.
